Zom Zom Chronicles // Chapter 2: The Inventory
(If MacGyver Cried a Lot and Used Scotch Tape)

01. The Situation

📊 TELEMETRY DATA:
Tuesday, Late Afternoon | Mood: Delusional | Status: Armed

The screaming outside has stopped, which is somehow worse than the screaming. Now, it’s just the ambient noise of the apocalypse: distant car alarms and the occasional Zom. Zom. Zom. from the hallway.

02. Resource Scan

I realized a bottle of bleach is a terrible weapon. I need a zombie-slaying instrument of destruction. I dumped my backpack and scanned the janitorial shelves:

  • A wooden mop handle base
  • Heavy-duty desktop stapler
  • Duct tape (The absolute Holy Grail)
  • Pair of rusty scissors
  • Tangled laptop charger cord

03. Crafting Log: The Ex-Calibur

I decided to go for maximum reach. You don’t want a Zom Zom close enough to breathe on you. Their breath smells like raw meat and expired dairy products.

BUILD SCHEMATIC SPECIFICATIONS:
1. Structural Base: Mop handle core shaft.
2. Cutting Edges: Scissor blades unfurled and affixed to the tip via industrial layer wrap of Duct Tape.
3. Counter-Weight Balanced: Office stapler tied securely at the base grip.

It looked completely pathetic. Like a dynamic fantasy spear designed by a hyperactive toddler. But it is mine.

04. Combat Drill: Practice Swings

I performed three critical spatial calibration maneuvers in the narrow confines of the closet:

⚠️ DIAGNOSTIC HARDWARE WARNING: Calibration Failed.
- Swing 1: Over-extended line, cleanly knocked over yellow bucket of floor wax.
- Swing 2: Lateral cross-swing, scissor blades wiggled layout-ominously.
- Swing 3: Rapid upward thrust, dislocated left shoulder joint (almost).

It's perfect. Now to open the door.

05. Rules for Survival

Based entirely on my visual observations of Gary and poor Mrs. Higgins out through the glass panels, here is the official working manifest:

1. Cardio is King: Don't try to vault heavy courtyard fences unless you can land cleanly. A twisted ankle is a formal dinner bell invitation.

2. Deconstruct the Rhythm: (Chew, chew, chew). You have roughly 4 seconds of auditory cueing before high-threat visual contact occurs.

3. Absolute Silence on Comms: No individual should die because they forgot to mute a spam call regarding expiring car warranties.

4. Avoid High-Density Congestion Zones: Steer clear of artisanal coffee bars, boutique fitness gyms, and the local DMV registry windows.

06. Threat Entity: Mister Whiskers

Breed: 50% Ragdoll premium mix, 50% Abyssal Demon.
Age: Timeless / Unknown.

PROXIMATE BIOLOGICAL THEORY: Mister Whiskers is Patient Zero. Three days ago, he stared blankly at a blank living room wall for four continuous hours. He wasn't sleeping. He was waiting.

If I somehow survive this trek back to my apartment building and find him leading a massive Zom Zom tactical regiment from atop the refrigerator, I won't even be marginally surprised.

07. Final Contact (Breach Detected)

🚨 CRITICAL SYSTEM ALERT: PHYSICAL BREACH EN ROUTE

The spilled floor wax is slowly seeping back under the door frame gap. It smells like synthetic lemons mixed with chemical skin burns. Someone is clearly walking down the main hall.

They aren't doing the standard scraping, dragging Zom rhythm. They are... whistling?

I'm firmly grabbing the grip of the Ex-Calibur. Wish me luck.

COMMENTS DECK OVERCEPT:
GarysWife: That whistling pattern sounds exactly like Gary! Please tell him to come home right away!
BladeMaster99: Total amateur setup move. Ditch the broom stick and go find an active gas-powered nail gun.
