So, your Apple AirTag finally ran out of juice? Don't worry! Replacing the battery is incredibly simple and takes less than a minute. What You Will Need
Before you start, make sure you have the correct replacement battery on hand.

- One CR2032 Lithium 3V Coin Battery
Important Tip on Bitter CoatingsMany battery manufacturers (like Duracell) apply a non-toxic, bitter-tasting coating to their CR2032 batteries to deter children from swallowing them. Unfortunately, this coating can sometimes block the electrical contact inside an AirTag. If you put a new battery in and your AirTag doesn't chime or turn on, try wiping the battery thoroughly with an alcohol wipe to remove the coating, or look for batteries specifically labeled as not having a bitter coating.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1 Position the AirTag
Hold your AirTag in both hands with the polished stainless steel side facing up. This is the silver metal side featuring the etched Apple logo.
2 Press and Twist
Place your two thumbs on the silver metal cover. Press down firmly into the AirTag and, while maintaining that downward pressure, rotate the cover counterclockwise (to the left). Keep twisting until the cover stops spinning.
3 Remove the Cover and Dead Battery
Once the cover is fully rotated, it will pop loose. Lift the silver cover off the AirTag and set it aside. You can now easily lift the old battery out of its slot and dispose of it properly.
4 Insert the New Battery
Take your fresh CR2032 battery and drop it into the slot. Make sure the positive side (the flat side with the "+" symbol and text) is facing up towards you. As soon as the battery makes proper contact, the AirTag will play a brief chime. This sound is your confirmation that the battery is working and installed correctly.
5 Lock the Cover Back in Place
Pick up the silver cover and look at the bottom of it; you will see three small tabs. Align these three tabs with the three corresponding slots on the inside edge of the AirTag. Press the cover down firmly against the battery and rotate it clockwise (to the right) until it locks securely into place.
