The Urban Redevelopment Plan

Lumiose City is a living ecosystem divided into five primary districts: Rouge, Jaune, Vert, Bleu, and Magenta. The game shifts away from traditional regional travel to a vertically integrated city.

Diurnal Cycle: Daytime is for exploration and research; Nighttime facilitates the competitive Z-A Royale ladder.

Utilize the "Look UP" philosophy to find rare species on scaffolding and rooftops using the Roto-Glide function.

Real-Time Combat & Stealth

Traditional PP is replaced with Move Cooldowns. This requires tactical "STAB" alternating to keep pressure on opponents.

Mechanic Control Effect
Z-Targeting ZL Trigger Locks focus on opponents.
Dodge Roll Y Button Grants i-frames during boss AoEs.
Backstrike Stealth Guaranteed critical hit if undetected.
Pro Tip: Visit the "Blue NPC" outside Pokémon Centers to retrieve Poké Balls lost during failed catch attempts.

The Main Campaign: 42 Missions

The story tracks your ascent from unranked to Rank A champion while investigating Rogue Mega Evolutions.

Crucial Milestone: Mission 10, "The Secrets of Mega Evolution," is where you officially unlock the Mega mechanic.

Phase 2 centers on containment. Bosses like Rogue Mega Slowbro and Mawile require precise dodging and collecting Mega Power orbs to counter-evolve.

The Z-A Royale Ladder

The primary competitive hierarchy involves 26 ranks (Z through A). You must clear 10 mandatory promotion matches to finish the story.

Difficulty Spike: Vinnie (Rank V) uses a Level 32 Mega Drampa. Do not attempt without having your own Mega Evolution ready.

Final promotion opponents (Urbain/Taunie) will always use a Kalos starter that has a type advantage against your own choice.

100% Completion: Screws & Plushies

Collect 100 Colorful Screws across city scaffolding to trade for Canari Plushies, providing permanent passive buffs.

Plush Color Effect
Red Increases EXP Points gained.
Green Increases Trainer survivability.
Pink Increases Mega Shard drop rate.
Research Level 50: This is the only way to obtain the Shiny Charm (increasing rates to 1/1024).

Post-Game: The Aura Trio

After the credits, return to Hotel Z to begin quests for the legendary Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde.

Boss Warning: The final Zygarde battle features three phases (10%, 50%, and 100% Forme). Stay at the lateral edges of the arena to avoid the Core Enforcer beam.

The Mega Dimension DLC introduces Level 200 battles, including Mega Darkrai, triggered via specific "Donut Rituals."
