Mastering the Catch

The Ring System: A Green ring means easy, Yellow is medium, and Red is hard. The smaller the ring when your ball hits, the higher the catch probability!

Turn Off AR Mode: Turning off the Augmented Reality camera centers the Pokémon on your screen, making them drastically easier to hit with Curveballs (spin the ball in small circles before throwing for an XP/Catch rate bonus!).
The "Fast Catch" Glitch: 1. Drag the Pokéball/Berry menu icon slightly toward the center with your left thumb. 2. Keep holding it while throwing the ball with your right finger. 3. Once the ball hits, let go of the menu, tap the screen, and press the "Run" icon. The Pokémon is instantly caught in your storage!
Raid Boss "Circle Lock": Hold the Pokéball until the target circle is Excellent size, then let go. Wait for the Boss to attack. Throw right as their attack animation finishes. The circle stays locked!

Never power up before Level 20-30. Save dust for Top-Tier Raid Attackers and PvP meta picks only.

Evolution Candy

Some evolutions are massive investments. Evolving a Magikarp into Gyarados requires a whopping 400 Candy!

PokéCoin Optimization: Defending a Gym grants 1 coin per 10 mins. The daily cap is 50 coins. Pro Tip: Place defenders in multiple gyms at night to max out your morning limit.
Incubator Efficiency: You receive one infinite (orange) incubator. Use it ONLY on 2km eggs. Save limited-use (blue/purple) incubators exclusively for 10km and 12km eggs to maximize their durability.
Lure Modules: If you see pink petals fluttering around a PokéStop, another player has dropped a Lure Module! Hang around it to catch continuously spawning Pokémon.

Battle & PvP Secrets

The Combat Point (CP) Arc: A Pokémon's CP arc shows how close it is to its maximum level. As your Trainer Level increases, the max CP bound of your Pokémon increases too!
The PvP IV Paradox (0/15/15): In the Great and Ultra Leagues, you want LOW Attack and High Defense/HP. Because Attack raises CP faster, a 0-Attack Pokémon can level up more times and achieve higher overall bulk before hitting the CP cap!

Advanced Battle Tactics:

  • Dodging in Raids: Swipe left or right on the screen when the yellow flash appears to dodge incoming charged attacks, reducing damage by 75%.
  • Type Swapping: Swapping Pokémon leaves you temporarily vulnerable, but bringing in a Water type against a Fire opponent's Special Attack can completely turn the tide of a battle.
  • Shadow Damage: A 0/0/0 Shadow Pokémon out-damages a 15/15/15 regular version in Raids due to the massive 20% shadow attack bonus.
